Okay, so I'm not going to do social media other than this. You wanna know what's going on? Hit me up here. I don't promise it'll be anything earth shaking, but it's what's going on with us- our nuclear family. Together we're Tay, Rae, Hae, and May. This is a recount of A day in the life of... Us!

A little overdue

Pictures, that is. Well, blame blogger... I've been trying to post new pics, but it won't upload. Oh well, it can just be a little longer. Oh the suspense!! No-- damn thing opened in a different window- hidden. Can someone please clean the windows?? LOL!! Without further adieu...

Pictures with the Easter bunny. Good thing he squatted, he was like the rest of bunnies in the wild in drought-starved West Texas...

Haley holding Macy at the park. Her school took her for Easter egg hunting and Macy and I came to play and cheer on big sister.

Happy birthday (party) to Macy! She turned 1 May 25 and had a seahorse themed party. Isn't she a doll?

Mmm, Seahorse cake!

Not sure what this cheesy smiling is all about, but I'm gonna keep taking pictures in case she decides to stop!

Two sides of the same coin

A true story, and written without knowledge of the content of other side of the coin's story.

So it was a notable Friday anyways. Taylor just started his streak of 6 days off-- a relief to me to have some week day help in the evening. Not that I needed much help that Friday evening since Grandma took Haley and her cousin Jaden to the movies to see Kung Fu Panda 2.

I expected her home anytime; the movie started at three something and it was now six-ish, I believe. But, hey, I was reveling in the quietness afforded by an absent 5 year old.
So, I get a text from my sis-in-law-- unusual in the fact that the text was about Benjamin, my nephew. Usually Courtney will send an email or put it on Facebook or blog or YouTube or whatever, but not typically a text. But today her text was about Ben's new word. Ben has several words now (by the way, Ben is 2 months older than Macy), but the word he added to his vocabulary today was "bye-bye." Short for "bye-bye Daddy, I know it's your second job of the day and your tired and so is Mommy, so I'll give ya a little something to miss me and Mom and being away from home just a little bit more." Yup, that bye-bye. So what can a Mommy do, but send it out to the family? So she did.

I shared the news with Taylor (because we could speak a complete sentence without interruption). How neat, and perfect timing. Well, time was glorious for Taylor and I. Talking about our Memorial weekend plans (uh, swimming and relaxing!) and about the excitement of our upcoming huge vacation to the Florida Keys with my in-laws and the rest of the gang. It's amazing how quickly we can talk without Haley around.... Well, Taylor saddled Macy into her new buggy we got her for her birthday and buckled her in before her ride around the house. "Tell Mama bye-bye." And she did.

It was faint, but she said it. (I had to double check with Taylor to make sure I wasn't imagining it.) It almost sounded like Da-Da, but she added a wave on it-- just to reassure me that I wasn't making “bye-bye” a cross-state cousin competition. What’s the chances they would say the same word for the first time on the same day only an hour or so apart?? Taylor kept her in the buggy and would drive her past the office just to say “bye-bye.” Yup, a couple of proud parents. After the commotion and the praise and reinforcement, that was all she could say all night. “Bye-bye” with a wave.

So I text the news to my bro and Courtney and Mom too. Branden never replied—he was at his second job by then. Mom thought it was appropriately cool. And Courtney, well she blogged about it. That way we wouldn’t forget, and somebody else might think it was cool too. And so now that my side is recorded, I can read Courtney’s blog because I’m dying to hear her take on things.

Shortly afterward, Grandma brought Haley home. And Macy bid Grandma a good night, with a sweet little bye-bye.
