Okay, so I'm not going to do social media other than this. You wanna know what's going on? Hit me up here. I don't promise it'll be anything earth shaking, but it's what's going on with us- our nuclear family. Together we're Tay, Rae, Hae, and May. This is a recount of A day in the life of... Us!

Midland canceled school today because of the rain- induced hazardous road conditions so I ended up having a day home with the kiddos.  It has been quite fun even though we've been holed up all day.  My rain gauge so far says 4 and a half inches of rain and it's continuing to pour with more in the forecast.

The Ruins of a Glorious Bubble Bath

So I got this new phone that lets me make blog posts straight from it. So I can do things like capture shots of my washing machine flooding my house thanks to a loose drain hose that I didnt notice because I was indulging in a bath almost as it happens. An hour later (and an hour of missed work for Taylor), my house was sorta back to normal and any relaxation achieved from my bath was erased. And I'll never know how neither child awoke with the shop vac screaming for 30 minutes...

Alright, so it's been a really long time.  So what's going on?  Life as usual, I suppose.  While family and friends are having babies, expecting more, or trying to have some, we are not.  We're good with our little family of four, despite Taylor thinking he needs one that looks like him.  Ha!  Macy will be two later this month and Haley is finishing up kindergarten.  Taylor's workload seems to be picking up while mine is slowing somewhat, briefly.  Seasons of life.
Our biggest life change and consuming event is that Haley has been diagnosed with ADHD.  Our journey officially started in January and has been intentionally slow and deliberate to this point.  The definitive diagnosis came last month.  Now my role has shifted to becoming empowered in order to be the most effective advocate for my child.  Here lately, I've been reading anything related to ADHD that I can get my hands on so that I may better understand Haley's disability and be able to make changes in my parenting for her benefit., among many other things.  And then there's the meetings and appointments...  Haley is in counseling for her behavior related to impulsiveness which means appointments every two or three weeks.  And now we start meeting with the school for an intervention plan.  And then there's the developmental (behavior) specialist appointment later this month.  This doctor specializes in behavior disorders and works a lot with ADHD.  And she's two hours away.  So there's lots going on with relation to this diagnosis.
Fortunately, the testing showed that Haley is very smart.  Her IQ is 115!  But how does her inattention, hyperactivity and impulsiveness slow her down?  And she has no other diagnoses which is very common in ADHD children.  And my child, when tuned in, can be so sweet and caring.  I have no doubt that we will weather this storm and Haley will be better for knowing about her deficits from early on.  But I have no idea what exactly our treatment course and plans of actions will be or what things will look like even two months from now.  Change is inevitable since what we've been doing to this point has not been enough to curb these behaviors.
As for Macy, she is continually learning new things like running and jumping, interactive play and coloring.  But not talking.  Why talk when you can grunt, scream, and point?  Ha!  And she loves animals of any kind.  And Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.  Funny how she sings it- a monotone but rhythmic "How I, How I, How I."    She really does adore her big sister too.  "Where's Haley?" seems to be her most repeated phrase.   I watch Macy as she wants to do what Haley does since any little siblings wants to follow in their big sibling's foot steps.  Ironic thing is that this seems to grow Macy a bit while Haley brings herself to Macy's level (which isn't hard since Haley's ADHD makes her immature for her age).  It's like I have two toddlers!
We've been on a few trips since I last posted.  The big family vacation to Florida was tons of fun!!  We went skiing in New Mexico over spring break with both girls which, eventually, was a lot of fun as well.  This summer is another vacation with T's side of the family, this time to South Padre in Texas.  (Taylor wants to rent a sports car for our cross-Texas trip!)  In December, we're headed to Las Vegas.  We've had a couple of weekend trips to Dallas to visit family as well.
So that's us, briefly.  Hope to write again (sooner than a year from now!)  I have pictures posted to my Shutterfly Share account.
